At Church of the Holy Communion
Giving back to the community, both locally and globally, is important to parishioners at Church of the Holy Communion. Throughout the year there are opportunities to participate in assisting those around us. In 2021 CHC donated over $4000 to the charities below.
Each year during the Lake Geneva Electric Light Parade, we sell hot chocolate and homemade cookies in front of our church. All proceeds will go to the Walworth County Food and Diaper Bank (262-723-4488). In 2021 $1900 was donated.
CHC volunteers assist the Salvation Army by ringing bells outside of Piggly Wiggly in December.
There was a free holiday organ concert on December 2, 2021 at CHC where Roy Clare played Christmas music on our historic organ. Lunch was after the concert in our parish hall. A free will offering was split between local charities and our organ fund.
We have a sewing workshop to make pillowcases to go with donated pillows for the "Christmas is For Kids" program at St. John in the Wilderness in Elkhorn. This effort makes the Christmas holiday a little brighter for Elkhorn families in need.
From May until October, we host a Farmer’s Market on the church grounds. We have a booth during the market in which we sell products from Lake Geneva Country Meats. They graciously allow CHC to purchase their delicious bratwurst and meat sticks at wholesale price. We then sell these goods at LGCM's retail price at our booth. Proceeds from this fundraiser ($2100) have been divided equally among the Lake Geneva Food Pantry (262-248-2337), Open Arms Free Clinic (262-379-1401), and Side by Side (262-581-5927). During the market the church is open so visitors may come in to view our beautiful building, listen to our historic organ being played by the talented Roy Clare, or simply sit and pray. We had over 2200 visitors this season!
During Maxwell Street Days in August, CHC held a Rummage Sale and a sale of Haitian Crafts and Coffee. We were able to send $150 to Haiti for Earthquake Relief.
CHC also donated $120 to the Lake Geneva Fire Department's Fire-Up Program for Youth.
