We are delighted that you are interested in being married at Holy Communion Episcopal Church! Marriage is one of the most sacred, beautiful and joyful of all church ceremonies. It celebrates God’s uniting of two persons in holy matrimony and his blessing on their marriage by his sustaining and everlasting presence. It is important to remember that the Christian marriage ceremony is a service of worship before God, and thus all of the preparations we will make together are undertaken in light of that fact.
Our hope is that our Wedding Customary (click on link to download) will serve as an initial and helpful way for us to communicate that understanding, but do know that nothing is “set in stone” until all is given final approval by the priest as the Celebrant. After reading this pamphlet, the first step is to schedule a consultation with Rev. William McLemore through our church office. You may have to leave a message but we will get back to you.
The Celebration and Blessing of your marriage is a Sacramental Rite in the life of the Church, “in which a woman and man enter into a life-long union, make their vows before God and the Church, and receive the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows” (BCP, p. 861). We trust that you have prayerfully considered entering into this holy union and we look forward to the possibility of sharing in the joy of such an occasion with you!
